a long weekend in seattle, washington
ah, vacation. this trip has been on our minds for months now, and i can't believe it has quickly come and gone. to utilize the random mid-week- 4th of july holiday, we took all 5 days to explore the pacific northwest. i really couldn't be happier with this decision. the first part of our trip was spent in seattle -- what a cozy unique little city. we had so much fun exploring what great food, drinks, scenery and character it had to offer.
some highlights include:
eating @ sitka and spruce (we were obsessed and went twice.) walrus and the carpenter (seafood bliss). brunch. drinking @ stumptown coffee. kings hardware cocktails (and games!) oh and more coffee. and a secret speakeasy. exploring @ holiday zen. DIY belgian waffles at the extremely cute ace hotel. parks and more parks. the market.
on the fourth we hopped on a boat over to alki beach where we walked (a lot), lounged, had pizza and beer, and before we knew it were headed back to the city. we packed a picnic and spent the rest of our evening watching the sunset, waiting for the fireworks, and playing frescobol at byhe kracke park. very mellow, but wonderful way to spend the holiday. we finally made our way to the train station for a quick trip up to vancouver [which actually turned into a not-so-quick trip because of a wrong train mishap. c'est la vie!]
