East Austin

sa-ten coffee & eats

Kate ParrishComment

sa-ten, a coffee shop in the canopy studio on springdale rd. (super east austin), is a japanese influenced cafe serving espresso, coffee, and tea along with pastries like donuts from red rabbit bakery. from our neighborhood it's a bit of a trek just for a cup of joe. but would make a great place to come and get some work done, read a book, play cards (or one of the other games they have stacked on the shelves), or hang with friends. their espresso is rather delicious, too. we'll definitely be back!

brunch: hillside farmacy

Kate ParrishComment

hillside farmacy is a restaurant + specialty grocery store located in an old drugstore building beautifully restored using original pharmacy cabinetry {also seen on this post} . located deep on the east side, it is one of my favorite places for a long leisurely lunch/happy hour {don't ever expect for your experience here to be quick}. some of my favorites on the menu include the fried egg sandwich and the fountain sodas "with booze". and if there is a long wait for a table – wander over to quickie pickie, take heart or olive vintage down the street. bon appetit!

happy hour @ weather up

Kate ParrishComment

weather up is one of my favorite places for cocktails in austin – happy hour, late night, or anywhere in between. they have creative and delicious craft cocktails {with a menu that is often changing with the season}, and their patio is so perfect. no frills, just an awesome place always. cheers!

plants and ramen

Kate ParrishComment

last weekend i woke up with rain coming down and felt relieved. something about the no-pressure feeling of a rainy weekend is kind of amazing. our day was spent picking up some new friends for the apartment, trying a ramen spot i've been wanting to go to forever {it was soooo good. but in the most random spot up north}, and spent the rest of the day warm and dry in the apartment. happy friday !
