spring in austin | family in town

this past weekend we had kp's brother in town, his first time to austin! he picked a perfect weekend to visit, too. the sun was out and the trees were blooming. hello, spring. this meant breakfast tacos, bike touring {thanks to austin bike rental we were able to get an extra}, texmex on the patio, drinks on the patio, and why not more patio time on the way home with a stop at clarks for half priced bottles of wine. it was a pleasant day.

superbowl sunday

the weather dropped about 40 degrees between saturday and sunday, which left us feeling a bit confused. we started our morning braving the empty food truck lot for a breakfast taco and a brief "south 1st by car" tour. when we barely froze, a fireplace seemed like the only option which put us at the w for tea and coffee.

after saying goodbye to the vollmers we picked up snacks and beer at the quickie pickie, browsed olive vintage, and decided we'd post up at my parents house for the superbowl. while the game was a bust, we had a fabulous time eating martha's amazing food, lighting fire log after fire log, and snuggling with the puppies.

^^ all the usual superbowl suspects were there: chili {3 kinds!}, fritos, 7 layer dip, pigs in a blanket – but with a unique healthy delicious martha charm. cheers!
