MARFA, TEXAS | TRAVEL GUIDE

TRAVEL TIPS

The drive from Austin is pretty long – it took us about 6 hours. I would suggest exploring the area around it if you can: Marfa is great, but it's small and you can tackle the whole place pretty fast or take it in slowly – some nearby spots include:

The Gage Hotel Marathon, TX

Big Bend National Park Camping is likely your best bet for visiting this national park – great  for hiking,  fishing and swimming if the water levels are safe.

TO SLEEP

El Cosmico "Glamping" with options for everyone – from tents, to yurts, to trailers – this liz lambert creation is a real treat. We stayed in a teepee [shared bathrooms, but a fireplace inside], and my parents stayed in a trailer [private bathroom and shower]. Both were incredible.

Love House This place speaks for itself when you look at the website. crisp, clean, beautiful, cozy, and right in the middle of town.

TO EAT & DRINK

Food Shark A food truck that serves all kinds of tasty treats from lamb kabobs to bacon and brie sandwiches. Everything is fresh and perfect.

Cochineal We ate here for both dinner and brunch, and loved every bit of it. This place is a must-go-to.

Maiya's Good cocktails and good food.

Pizza foundation Perfect for a quick and casual meal, we came here before the star party. Can also call before and grab some pies to go.

Planet Marfa The best bar in Marfa, fun outdoor patio to hang on.

Do your thing coffee This place is a must if you need to caffeinate. And the marfa book co. across the street is worth popping in to while you sip your coffee.

EXPLORE

Star Party 30 minutes outside of Marfa at the McDonald Observatory, you'll sit in the dark and learn about the stars. I've never seen more stars in my life and would recommend this highly if it's a clear night.

Garza Marfa Set up an appointment before hand to check out their show room if you're into furniture.

Big Bend National Park You're closer than you think, and if you're going to make the drive, you might as well see this beautiful national parks
