MOAB, UTAH | TRAVEL GUIDE

travel tips

  • Fly directly into Moab if you can – the airport is tiny and cute, and it saves you some driving time.
  • Rent a car! You'll need it.
  • Visit in September or October – it's not crazy hot or cold, and the tourists have died down a bit.
  • If you need help deciding what kind of hiking to get into – this guide was helpful for us.

TO SLEEP

Moab Under Canvas Offers simple tents and teepees with cozy interiors and views of the glorious landscape near Arches & Canyonland national park. We stayed at under canvas' yellowstone location and were SO pleased by the experience. i cannot wait to try this one.

Airbnb & Home Away have great rentals – we stayed here.

to eat and drink

Moab Brewery After a day outdoors you'll find townies here for a good reason, the Dead Horse amber ale and Brewer's Reuben are local favorites.

Desert Bistro One of if not the nicest restaurant in Moab – the bacon wrapped smoked elk and handmade pastas make it worth the visit.

EklectiCafe Perfect spot to grab breakfast before a long day of hiking / exploring.

Moon Flower Local market with fresh groceries and good wine + cheese options.

Ye Ol' Geezer Shop The butcher to go to for steaks or fish if you have plans for grilling, they also have the best beef jerky in Utah.

to explore

Canyoneering + Rafting day (5 - 6 hr) We had a private tour and the best time with our two guides canyoneering down three canyons, and later taking a paddle down the river. They made us a really cute little lunch along the water and it was a great way to see the diversity of Moab.

Dead Horse Point Come here for sunset with a bottle of wine – it will be the best decision you have ever made.

Delicate Arch Hike (1 - 2 hr) This hike is hard. but if you want to see one of Moab's most iconic visuals, and get a good sweat going, this is for you. we managed to do it the same day as fiery furnace, so it's definitely doable but your legs / butt will hurt.

Fiery Furnace Hike ( 4 - 5 hr) This hike can only be done with a guide {we used red river adventures}, however for that reason it is worth it because you will not see another person on your trek. the hike is difficult, however very rewarding.

Slick Rock Mountain Bike Trail (10.7 miles, 2 – 4 hours) Famous for it's mountain bike trails. This is one of the coolest, most unique experiences you can have on a bike. Need to know: this ride is tough – almost 11 miles under the hot sun. Be sure to pack water and be aware of other bikers.
