this weekend we went to the castro theater for the first time and it was one of those WHY HAVE WE NEVER BEEN HERE moments. the theater itself is gorgeous, built back in the 1920's holding on to much of its original charm. in terms of film – they offer a large variety of experiences including but not limited to sing alongs, current movies, old movies, really old movies, tributes and full rent outs.
we were more than entertained watching the labyrinth, a 1986 throwback to honor david bowie. i hadn't seen it in years and it was just as weird and fun as i remember. planning a castro date night? some delicious neighborhood food & drink spots include:
Anchor Oyster Bar – Starbelly – Contigo – Cafe du Nord – Frances – Hot cookie [dessert only]
