warm and sunny new year | buenos aires

after buses and taxis and flights and more buses, we finally arrived back in BA by 8pm for new years eve. it was a whirlwind and we were not prepared for the partying that argentineans take on. some highlights from our last few days here include –

the 3 – 8am street party outside of our airbnb rental, nordic sandwiches and too many spritz from olsendinner at casa felix (in his backyard!), listening to kyle speak english in a spanish accent and thinking that it will help, drinking at the secret bar underneath a flower shop, the most massive cheese plate paired with fernet and coke @ bar el federalventuring back to our favorite parilla, getting french @ oui oui, and BEST OF ALL sneaking into the pool at faena hotel on our last day; i will remember that day forever.

getting to patagonia: 2 days in el calafate

our trip was split in two– city exploring {buenos aires}, and wilderness exploring {patagonia}. it wasn't until we started planning that we realized how hard it was to actually get there. first we flew south into a town called el calafate. we then caught a bus 5+ hours to a smaller town, puerto natales where we had one final 2+ hour bus into torres del paine national park. when we saw a "you are here" map i realized we were as far south as you can get before hitting antartica!

we decided to stop in el calafate for a day to explore the perito moreno glacier and go horseback riding. it was a perfect segway into our hiking trip. while these towns feel like they're in the middle of absolute no where, they still manage to serve you delicious food and endless bottles of wine to make every adventure fancy.

a summer christmas in buenos aires

it's hard to believe our journey to south america is over – i'm so happy we were able to capture so much of our trip with photos and videos. soon i will have all of our favorite restaurants/bars/activities documented on the travel page

today i'm sharing our first 2 days in buenos aires – some highlights from this time include: our *absolutely amazing* airbnb rental apartment – the hosts and experience was one of the best i've ever had, exploring our neighborhood – palermo soho, riding bikes through the crazy streets, sneaking into the four seasons pool, drinking lots of malbec while eating lots of steak, touring ancient cemeteries and wandering into bookstores and wine shops, and of course kp popping the question on christmas eve. happy friday and there are many more photos to come.
