quick weekend guide to austin, tx

last weekend we had friends visit from both coasts – SF and NYC. we had all kinds of fun with them. 

we stayed in the most prefect little airbnb rental, we ate and drank at some of our favorite spots – elizabeth st. cafe, east side king, whisler's, mescalria, weather up, stay gold, and of course had a late night dance party at hotel vegas on east 6th. the entire weekend was spent on two wheels, and ended with a barton springs plunge + sno beach, and pool time at martha's. it was a whirlwind and so lovely to have these two. 
 

sxsw sunday funday

last sunday we had to pretend like it was saturday – there were two company sxsw parties to go to, and friends to continue to entertain {i mean, they took monday off. we couldn't just suggest seeing a movie.}

highlights include: {free!!} street side ice cream sandwiches for breakfast, gospel waffle sunday at mcj, lunch at hillside farmacy, vintage souvenir shopping at sam hill, drinks and snacks at whip in, and finally container bar for our final party of the weekend. i was happy to put my head on the pillow that night.

south congress

we have awesome friends – the day we moved to texas it seems like they were all booking tickets to come visit us. i think they're using us for a free place to stay, but whatever we like the company. last weekend we had a whole bunch of folks crashing at our place with sxsw in full swing. friday we kicked things off with a night on south congress at some of our favorites – perlas for dinner, hotel san jose for drinks in the trees, and live music + two stepping at the continental club.

presidents sunday

three day weekends are the best. some highlights from *last* sunday include – brunch at epicerie, beers next to the train tracks at AGBG, more beers on lake austin at weird & quirky hula hut, tasty cocktails at midnight cowboy, dinner at backspace, and finally some live music at mohawk. other lovers were amaaazing. we ended our day with the soft opening of cheer up charlies'  new location. happy sunday !
 

bbq & bull riding

after we took friends to la bbq a few weeks ago i was kind of obsessed. the music, free beer, and crazy good food is worth the long wait. it also tee's you up for a fun afternoon on the east side with spots perfect for {more} live music, coffee, and plenty of vitamin d absorption.

^^ that night we bruised up our legs on an impromptu mechanical bull ride, and later tried a new bar on rainey, half step, which is one of the only spots in the area with actual craft cocktails.
